Babel: Around the World in 20 Languages by Gaston Dorren - A Review

Βαβέλ: Ο γύρος του κόσμου σε 20 γλώσσεςΒαβέλ: Ο γύρος του κόσμου σε 20 γλώσσες by Gaston Dorren
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The premise of this book is very interesting.
The author delves deep into the extraordinary stories of these diverse lingua francas, tracing their politics origins, and their sometimes bloody rise to greatness.
Combining linguistics and cultural history, Babel takes us on an intriguing tour of the world.

I found the book to be easy to understand and personally I enjoyed some chapters more than others as I found them more engaging.
Babel was very enjoyable and informative and a good starting point if you want to delve more into linguistics.

Assassin's Creed : The Resurrection Plot by Kate Heartfield - A review

Assassin's Creed: The Resurrection PlotAssassin's Creed: The Resurrection Plot by Kate Heartfield
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is another book in the Assassin's Creed universe that I really liked. It is not a sequel but it connects with The Magus Conspiracy that Kate Heartfield has written as well.

This time we start in Cairo in 1869 when a bomb goes of and our assassin Pierrette Arnaud along with her mentor Simeon Price try to stop the Templars again and unearth their plans for takeover.
The book is adventurous, mysterious and fast-paced. It has really good character development and I also really liked the writing.

My only complaint is the many time lapses, especially after a big event or revelation.

The Martyr (Covenant of Steel #2) by Anthony Ryan - A Review

The Martyr (Covenant of Steel, #2)The Martyr by Anthony Ryan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Martyr is the second book in the Covenant of Steel trilogy and as the first one The Pariah, it is full of action, intrigue and magic.
The book picks up where book one ended and Alwayn Scribe is still at Lady Evadine's side as her advisor and protector.

I found the first half of the book to be a little slow for me but then it picked up and it was really good.
Anthony Ryan knows how to write good characters and good battle scenes. The Martyr is medium -paced , adventurous, dark and tense.

I will definitely be reading book three The Traitor to find out how Alwyn's story continues.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I finished one more Discworld book and s per usual with Terry Pratcett's books, I really liked it. I listened Lords & Ladies on Audible and the publisher has done an excellent production.

In this book our three witches come across elves and try to save Lancre from them.
I really liked th efact that it continuesd where Witches Abroad had ended.
I love the world Pratchett has made and his writing is always funny and to the point. The book is medium-paced , funny and adventurous. It has strong character development and loveable characters.

I will definitely continue with the next book in the Witches series.

The Midnight Palace (Niebla #2) by Carlos Ruiz Zafon - A Review

Το παλάτι του Μεσονυκτίου (Niebla, #2)Το παλάτι του Μεσονυκτίου by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is another Carlos Ruiz Zafon book that I loved. The Midnight Palace is one of the first books that the author wrote and it is the 2nd book in the Niebla (Fog) trilogy but it reads as a standalone.

It takes place in Calcutta, India in the early 20th century and we follow Ben and his friends.

I loved the writing style and I really liked the characters and the story. My only complaint would be that the magic should have been explained more.
Despite that , I still loved it!

The Fall (The Bound and The Broken #0.5) by Ryan Cahill - A Review

The Fall (The Bound and the Broken, #0.5)The Fall by Ryan Cahill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have heard many great things for The Bound and The Broken series, so I decided to read it. I though that it would be better to start from the prequel novella The Fall and I wasn't disappoionted.

The writing style is perfect for me and I am really excited to learn more about the world and the story.
The events of The Fall take place 400 years before the events Of Blood And Fire and we see the story through four POVs that blend with eachother seelmessly.

I loved the world-building, as well as the magic system. ALso, there are dragons involved in case you needed more motivation to pick it up.

Her Radiant Curse by Elizabeth Lim - Book Review

Her Radiant CurseHer Radiant Curse by Elizabeth Lim
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Elizabeth Lim has become one of my auto-buy authors. I really enjoy her writing & her stories. Her Radiant Curse, her newest book, was no exception.
The book is set in the same world as her previous books and in this one we follow the stoey of Channi, who appears in the Six Crimson Cranes duology.

The world-building was really good as always and the story was whimsical, very engaging & action-packed. It also has very good friendship and sibling dynamics between the characters.
