Σήμερα θέλω να σας μιλήσω για ένα βιβλίο που μου στάλθηκε για review από τον εκδοτικό οίκο Thomas Nelson μλεσω του Netgalley. Πρόκειται για το βιβλίο Fawkes της Nadine Brandes που θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 10 Ιουλίου 2018 στην Αμερική.
Μου κίνησε την περιέργεια το θέμα του βιβλίου και γι' αυτό και το επέλεξα. Είναι ένας συνδυασμός ιστορικού μυθιστορήματος και φαντασίας. Μου άρεσε ο τρόπος που η συγγραφέας πήρε τη γνωστή ιστορία του Guy Fawkes (για την απόπειρα δολοφονίας του βασιλιά της Αγγλίας το 1605 γνωστή ως Gunpowder Plot) και τις πρόσθεσε τα φανταστικά στοιχεία του color power (δηλαδή η δυνατότητα να μπορείς να ελέγχεις τα διάφορα χρώματα και με εντολές να σε υπακούν).
Πρόκειται για ένα συναρπαστικό βιβλίο. Παρ'ολο που ήξερα την ιστορία του Guy Fawkes και του Gunpowder plot, ήθελα να μάθω πως θα εξελιχθεί η ιστορία για τον Thomas (που είναι ο βασικός μας πρωταγωνιστής) και την Emma.

The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.
No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back.

ReplyDeleteΕξαρτάται από το αν σε βολεύει να διαβάζεις ebook στα αγγλικά. Το αρνητικό για εμένα είναι ότι δεν εγκρίνονται όλα τα requests που κάνεις για βιβλία. Έχω όμως διαβάσει κάποια πολύ καλά. Εμένα σε γενικές γραμμές μου αρέσει Κ με έχει βολέψει. Δε χάνεις κάτι να δοκιμάσεις...
