Ever Alice by H.J. Ramsay - A Review

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Today is the publication day of the book Ever Alice by H. J. Ramsay, which comes out from Red Rogue Press and it is a kind of retelling for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

When you read the synopsis of this book it sounds like a sequel to the original Alice's story set some years in the future.

Alice’s stories of Wonderland did more than raise a few eyebrows—it landed her in an asylum. Now at 15 years of age, she’s willing to do anything to leave, which includes agreeing to an experimental procedure. When Alice decides at the last minute not to go through with it, she escapes with the White Rabbit to Wonderland and trades one mad house for another: the court of the Queen of Hearts. Only this time, she is under orders to take out the Queen. When love, scandal, and intrigue begin to muddle her mission, Alice finds herself on the wrong side of the chopping block.

I liked the way the author imagined the future and the way she wrote it. It was very clever and it was  like reading a fairy tale but a little bit darker. I liked the writing and it also had some good plot twists.

One thing that confused me a little was the ending. It felt to me like it was a bit rushed.

Overall, I think that if you are a fan of  Lewis Carroll's story you will enjoy this book.
