A Curse So Dark And Lonely (Cursebreakers #1) by Brigid Kemmerer - A Review

Hello everyone!!

Today we are reviewing A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer, the first book in the Cursebreakers trilogy which was published in January 2019 by Bloomsbury YA.
The second book A Heart So Fierce And Broken came out in January 2020  and the final one A Vow So Bold And Deadly comes out on January 26th.

This book is a retelling of The Beauty and the Beast story but in a very unique way.
We follow Prince Rhen, the heir of Emberfall,  who is cursed by a powerful enchantress to repeat the autumn of his eighteenth year, thought he could be saved easily if a girl fell for him. But that was before he turned into a vicious beast hell-bent on destruction. Before he destroyed his castle, his family, and every last shred of hope.
We also follow Harper, whose life was never easy. With her father long gone, her mother dying, and her brother constantly underestimating her because of her cerebral palsy, Harper learned to be tough enough to survive. When she tries to save a stranger on the streets of Washington, DC, she's pulled into a magical world. Harper doesn't know where she is or what to believe.  As she spends time with Rhen in this enchanted land, she begins to understand what's at stake. And as Rhen realizes Harper is not just another girl to charm, his hope comes flooding back. But powerful forces are standing against Emberfall and it will take more than a broken curse to save Harper, Rhen, and his people from utter ruin.

The story is engaging and addictive but not from the beginning. At least it wasn't for me. But as the story continued I really enjoyed it.
I liked the main characters of the book. Harper, Rhen and Grey are a great combination. Harper is a strong female character with cerebral oalsy that she accepts and it doesn't affect her. Rhen is sensitive and caring but that doesn't show from the beginnig, as it was expected.
The author did a great work building the story and the world of the book, with its characters and romance.

I will definitely continue with the series. In fact I have already read book two and its review will come soon. I cannot wait for book three to be published next week.

Rating ; 4 Stars

See you in the next post and don't forget to keep reading!!!
