Dark Rise (Dark Rise #1) by C. S. Pacat - A Review

Hello everyone!!

Today I am reviewing Dark Rise by C. S. Pacat. It is the first book in the Dark Rise series and it is a YA Fantasy book. Dark rise was released on September 2021 by Quill Tree Books.

This was the first time I read something from C. S. Pacat and I loved everything about it. Her writing style, the world-building, the characters and of course all the plot twists at the end.
Dark Rise reminds me of a classic fantasy book with all the classic tropes such as the fight between Dark and Light, the chosen one and the quest. The world-building is huge and we got all the information about it at the beginning of the book which made it a little bit slow-paced.
I really liked the main characters like Will and Violet but also the side characters as well. James On the other hand I just loved and I cannot wait to see more of him in the next books.
Towards the end, the plot twits just kept on coming and the ending left me wanting book two asap.

Rating: 5 Stars

About the book:

The ancient world of magic is no more. Its heroes are dead, its halls are ruins, and its great battles between Light and Dark are forgotten. Only the Stewards remember, and they keep their centuries-long vigil, sworn to protect humanity if the Dark King ever returns.

Sixteen-year-old dock boy Will is on the run, pursued by the men who killed his mother. When an old servant tells him of his destiny to fight beside the Stewards, Will is ushered into a world of magic, where he must train to play a vital role in the oncoming battle against the Dark.

As London is threatened by the Dark King’s return, the reborn heroes and villains of a long-forgotten war begin to draw battle lines. But as the young descendants of Light and Dark step into their destined roles, old allegiances, old enmities and old flames are awakened. Will must stand with the last heroes of the Light to prevent the fate that destroyed their world from returning to destroy his own.

See you in the next post and don't forget to keep reading!!!
