Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy #1) by Leigh Bardugo - A Review

Hello everyone!!

Today we are reviewing Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo which is the first book in The Shadow and Bone Trilogy also know as Grishaverse. It is a YA Fantasy book that was published in 2012 by Henry Holt & Company.

Surrounded by enemies, the once-great nation of Ravka has been torn in two by the Shadow Fold, a swath of near impenetrable darkness crawling with monsters who feast on human flesh. Now its fate may rest on the shoulders of one lonely refugee.
Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling.
Yet nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. With darkness looming and an entire kingdom depending on her untamed power, Alina will have to confront the secrets of the Grisha . . . and the secrets of her heart.

Shadow and Bone was for a long time on my tbr and after finally reading it I can say that I really really liked it.
First of all I loved the world - building and the Grisha magic system. I also really enjoyed Leigh Bardugo's writing.
For me this book has everything. Action, romance, intrigues and of course many tropes, which actually I enjoyed.
I was reading it as a buddy read but I could not keep to the schedule because I couldn't put the book down. It was fast-paced and full of plot twists that I liked.
I really enjoyed  Alina as a character but The Darkling is and will be my favourite.

As of writing this review I have already finished the trilogy because I couldn't resist. Why I haven't read it earlier?

Rating : 4 Stars

See you in the next post and don't forget to keep reading!!!
